Deeper Smart Fish Finder works well for ice fishing. I usually have it hanging off the side of my pontoon while fishing. Great for getting the lay of the land (underwater land that is). Will be taking it ice fishing here soon. Looking forward to seeing how it does compared to the other much larger flashers. I would recommend it to other fisherman if there looking for a small fish finder that has multiple applications.
I do wish it had a little longer battery life, as i tend to stay on the water for quite a while. I suppose if you had a small portable charger (water proof of course) it could extend the use a bit longer.
The deeper fish finder is great device. Very happy with it and does everything it says it does. I’m happy to own it and excited to try it for ice fishing.
This little fish finder found its way into my tackle box. I enjoy the fact it is without any wires so that it doesn’t tangle with my line while ice fishing. I like the ability to cast and retrieve this from shore to find the structure I am looking for. I would suggest this to people anytime of the day as long as they are ice and shoreline fishers.
This device has been more useful than I first realized. I bought it for ice fishing, but I haven’t been able to use it for that yet since the ice was already getting to thin by the time it arrived. But earlier this year, a close friend passed away, drowned in a lake in a small town in Iowa. He was a military man, and an avid fisherman and strong swimmer, so we obviously wanted some answers.
We were at the lake the next day with the local sheriff, and I used the Deeper off the dock to find out some of the structure and water temp directly at the point they found him. It gave me many answers, like how it was a hard bottom (double sonar return) with low water temps in the 50s. This helped explain how he could have drowned when he jumped in after his runaway kayak. He likely went into shock from the cold water and couldn’t swim properly.
I also used the Deeper throughout the summer off canoes, shore fishing, and during our annual trip to the boundary waters canoe area. It performed admirably. I hope to be able to finally use it for ice fishing this coming winter.
I would never go ice fishing without it! Item works as described. Works best when ice fishing and signal loss is not a problem. Great product that combines a castable sonar and a flasher for winter ice fishing!
Deeper works great! I use it for ice fishing primarily. I haven’t been out fishing this warm season yet but it’s definitely coming with me. I purchased bases a cell phone charging devise so I can use Deeper all day/night & my mobile phone.
It works great. It is awesome that there are new features that consistently expand the capabilities of this finder. I have used it for lakes and rivers. I have also used it for ice fishing.
Use my deeper when I am ice fishing and it works great carry along a portable charger to charge it used it on every single link that we have gone to even use it on Lake Michigan definitely helps me out to figure out where the fish are
Bought it for my first season of ice fishing. Liked it so much I used on rivers and lakes on my kayak even in bays in NJ on small rental skiffs. Only issues I’ve had with it is work flow. It takes time to learn where to put my phone or tablet while fishing. Also it’s tricky where to put the deeper system so it doesn’t get in the way. It slams on the sides of my vessels. I plan on purchasing the mount and trying out the new boat mode.
The deeper has exceeded all expectations.. I love using it during ice fishing season. It’s been awesome in the summer months as well. Everything about the app is wonderful.. Thank you for an amazing product!
I just purchased my Deeper fish finder a week ago and I’ve had it out on the water today. It seems like a pretty nice basic depth finder.
I had no trouble setting it up and getting out on the water, very easy to do. As soon as I connected it with bluetooth, the unit did an update to Deeper. There wasn’t really anything I had to do, very easy process.
So far I’ve tried it on one of the local lakes I fish and it seemed to work pretty well.
I can’t say that I will keep this unit. It is very nice and it does seems to do the job well, but, for the places I fish along the banks, I don’t see myself using it more than once or twice to find the structure of the depth. To me, that is not worth the cost of this product. But, that has nothing to do with my opinion of how well this item works. It does seem to do the job pretty well. Now, for kayaking or small boat use that doesn’t have a fish finder, yes, this seems like a great product. But, how many times do you want to see the structure or need to see the water depth of only a few places I fish by the banks? Just by the way you have to cast this item out, your going to scare off all the fish from that area. As I said before, from a kayak, small boat or ice fishing, yes, this seems like a great product. If you have to cast this out in say water depths of 6 to 10 or 12 feet, your going to create to much disturbance on the water to not scare off the fish.
I will say that I could see if someone doesn’t screw the little metal fitting in to the threading on the product enough, I could see losing your Deeper after a couple of casts. Better to put a little teflon tape or blue (not red) Locktight thread sealer on the metal loop fitting so it is a more tight fit.
I took it out to a local lake yesterday but it was still frozen over. I did manage to drop it into a few holes in the ice and the depth readings were accurate (I know this lake quite well). There were a few fish icons that popped up but I believe those were false readings. I will leave a more in depth review when the ice melts and I can get a good cast out with it.
