Marcum LX-6S Digital Sonar FAQs:

How long does the battery last in real world use?

On a full charge you should last around 6 hours but if you turn up the brightness on your screen it obviously will shorten that time but it should last at least the day of fishing if the temps are over 0 you should have no problem with battery performance but yes when is cold below 0 the battery discharges faster then normal

Can the Marcum LX-6S be used in open water in summer? If so does it require a different transducer?

Yes it has open water and ice mode. You will need to switch out transducers for open water mode for the water temperature.

Can you upgrade and add a camera like the lx9?

We do greatly apologize for the inconvenience but, you'll need to buy the model that includes the camera.

Marcum LX-6S Digital Sonar Reviews:

Best Digital Sonar System!

Rated 5 out of 5

This is an awesome product. It is a little overwhelming at first, with so many options and settings but easy to navigate. I was fortunate to have a friend that I fish with that has an lx7 and helped me fine tune mine to the type of fishing we do. I am looking forward to trying it in my boat also. I highly recommend this product, it’s a great value.

Good price!

Got this much cheaper than i could elsewhere everything works as it should and I’m catching fish with it.

Best all around ice fishing finder

This thing is idiot proof. Turn it on, drop the ducer in the water and it’s ready to go. Auto depth ranging, bottom zoom, on and on. If you don’t like flasher mode there is graph mode. If you don’t like either of those there is a vertical column mode. If you like two of the three, just split screen and use both. You can’t go wrong with this one…..period. It will go all day and not put a dent in the battery.

Expensive, but envied by all!

I have several friends who are open water and ice fishing guides. Each one has about a dozen of the 7″ models – that alone should tell you how valuable these units are for professional guides! Although the 7″ models are great, I chose the 6″ because of the more compact size. Took it ice fishing last week in 90′ of water for Wisconsin whitefish & it provided quite a show when zoomed in on the bottom. Two guys who have had Vexilar units for decades are talking about trading them in for one of these!

Another great product from Marcum. Love the graph display. Huge upgrade from the lx-1. Just the right size for hole hopping.

Probably a good unit

But I had to send it back due to receiving it with used transducer. Someone must’ve bought it new then switched with the used one and returned. And I got it when ordered mine. I will buy another though when get my refund and will update this review.

I’m really happy with the MarCum LX-6S

Rated 5 out of 5

I recently purchased an LX-6S and thought I would give my review after using for the last five days while up at my cabin. I’ll start out by saying that I currently own an FL-8 and a HB Ice 55 and now the LX-6S, all of which I have used this year.
So for the other units…I will always keep my FL 8 as a backup and it’s been flawless for the past 12 years even through tons of abuse. This Ice 55 was really enjoyable to use and has a lot of good features for the price (at least with the rebate they were offering) but I had some reliability issues right away and lost confidence in it.
On to the LX-6…this thing is SWEET! I did, however, have some issues which I will touch on later. The display was so crisp and easy to view and I loved the ability to have vertical zoom on the side. Additionally, the ability to adjust the vertical zoom window and depth is really helpful. The unit itself was surprisingly small as a whole and realy easy to carry around and the arm which holds the transducer and the transducer holder are really great to use (I know they’re on other Marcum units but this is my first). Also, the easy access jumper in the back for charging is great.
Very happy with the unith but now onto some constructive critisism. The auto depth and auto zoom modes didn’t work very well and the dynamic depth mode was basically unusable. All of these auto modes would jump all over the place with dynamic depth being the worst in addition to having a sawtooth looking thing at the bottom.
I have to say though that my biggest issue was that the flasher was so small. When using the flasher and vertical zoom (my favorite configuringation) and removing the gauges there was a significant amount of screen to the right and bottom that wasn’t being used. This is the one thing that keeps me from being blown away by this unit.
One additional thing is that I read about bad interference issues and I can say that I had no issues fishing 4 ft. from my FL-8 all weekend in depths from 14-26 fow and over rocks and soft bottom. Playing with the IR was required however and anything other than having the LX-6S set at IR setting 5 was a complete mess.
Overall I’m really happy with the LX-6S even with the few issues which I think are well known by Marcum. The nice thing is knowing that the units software is upgradable and that these issue will most likely be addressed.

Buy this unit!

After using an old school mechanical flasher for years, and always thinking it was good enough, I decided to upgrade. I spent about a year researching, looking etc. I finally landed on the LX 6 for a combination of Price/Size Features. What a great choice. This is an excellent unit. I’ve had it out 5 times since receiving it (all hard water) and I am more impressed each time I use it. The features are amazing. I particularly like the graph mode. I never believed that I would go to graph over old school flasher mode, but I love it. The response time is amazing, its as close to real time graphing as I’ve ever seen. The flasher mode is incredible. Battery life is excellent. If you are in the market for a high end flasher/graph do not hesitate.

Love it!

I had been using a Vexilar FL20 and purchased this as a back-up. Well, it will be my primary. The response is crisp, clear, easy to read and all with none of the noise that comes with the Vexilar. The ability the modify the screen to fit my preferences is astonishing! There is soooo much good to say about this unit, to sum it up, DON’T HESITATE!

Great machine!

Awesome machine! A little pricey but performs as promised. Love being able to change cone angle, ability to zoom at various depths, not just bottom is awesome. Battery is a long laster. LX-6 screen is plenty big enough.

Highly recommend it!

It’s a little tricky to figure out all the displays, but my 19 old son figured it out no problem and we caught fish left and right! Highly recommend it! It actually works very well!
